Camping in Mayto

After a 2023 full of memorable hikings and fun dance classes, we are ready to start a new year. And the best way to recharge our batteries for the next year was with a camping weekend with friends at the beautiful Mayto and the charming Tehuamixtle.

Starting the year and after a Christmas season full of activities, we decided to give a weekend break in our agenda and spend a relaxing weekend at the gorgeous beaches of Mayto.
Mayto is charming little village located 40km southwest from El Tuito that has over 20 km of almost virgin beaches. There are a couple of beach hotels where you can sleep if you are not up for camping. In difference with Puerto Vallarta, you are allowed to camp in any beach in Cabo Corrientes. A good place to do it is at the facilities providen by the turtle camp near the mangrooves. This time we went, everything was taken by a group of scholars, but we camped nearby.
Camping is a great idea as most of the nights, you can see thousands of bright stars during the night and the beautiful moon. It is January, so it was a little bit chilly. Luckily we collected some logs at El Tuito and we had enough blankets for the night. Swimming is usually difficult in most of Mayto as the tide is usually strong. So a nearby option is heading south to the village called Tehuamixtle.
Tehuamixtle is a village located in a bay which is famous for their oysters and for having a sunken ship that sank down in 1920. The water there is also very clear and it is easy to swim there. It has several nice restaurants. We went both days there to eat and have some drinks.
Now, we are back in Puerto Vallarta, and ready to bring you to all the beautiful natural gems that Puerto Vallarta and its surrounding areas have and to dance with you.

Happy New Year 2024!
